Scrub

Hello my dear beloved blogger friends! Sorry, I wasn't able to drop by your sites lately. I've been trying to visit some blogs and hope to leave a comment but my eyes was too tired to do it. My back was also aching that I can't stand sitting on a chair for a long time. Besides, I got easily tired and went off to bed early. Whoa!!! - you might think that my work was getting me off to nowhere, hehehe. My O.R. duty was getting more exciting, challenging but yeah, tiresome and one has to be very alert!

I started assisting the surgeons last Monday. As I've mentioned in my previous post, I got a feeling that I'll be more of a Scrub nurse this week, so, this is the week! I'm not that fast yet like the senior staff nurses but well, so far, so good. I wanted so much to share with you, guys, what I've seen in there but of course, I have to protect the privacy of the patient. But what I can only tell you this time is that it's only in that hospital where I saw the rarest and weirdest kinds of illnesses, hehe. Maybe I will just share a glimpse of my experiences at the OR whenever I am free. Ta-ta!

My O.R. Week

I'm having a little free time nowadays to post an entry here but I'll try my best to put on some updates. I know I'll get used to this kind of routine soon, and even waking up as early as 5 o'clock in the morning! I started having my duty the other week and at that time, we were oriented to the place, the set-up, the staff and everything. And then I was informed that I'll be assigned at the Operating Room. Actually, I was a bit skeptical to be an OR nurse because there are so many instruments that I am not familiarized with and I've heard that some doctors are hot-tempered. But I knew that OR is one of the cream of the crop in a hospital and it will be a big challenge for me to join their team, so, I stated in my application that I wanted to be assigned at the OR - and there I was!

My second week at the OR was more on observing how the senior nurses did their part. I got to helped them do the nurses notes. Despite the heavy rain and bad weather, we had to be there (although some were absent because their houses were flooded) to take care of the patients. Thank God, I survived that week.

And then came my third week. They usually rotated us to different areas and I was assigned to the ER-OR area. Cases that were catered in there were minor operations. But on the very first day, I was totally stressed out. My time was extended for another 2 hours and I arrived home so drained and tired. As early as 7:30 p.m., I was already off to bed. The following day, it was the exact opposite and I was tired, too, for nothing much to do, hehe. But as I've said before, I've no reasons to complain but to thank only that we were there trying to save and extend services to the sick people at the hospital. But I did not scrub yet as of this week (assisting doctor during operation). I was more of a circulating nurse but I'm pretty sure that by next week, I'll be more of a scrub nurse. And oh, some doctors I've encountered lately were nice, by the way.

Hope to post more interesting stories next time ;)

Great Collectible Items

I've always wanted to own collectible items because they are rare to find yet worthy to be treasured. Right now, I have one collector item doll and I'm glad my daughter understands that she can't play that one. She already has plenty of dolls to play with, anyway. But I would still love to own more collectible dolls as I find them cute and very lovely to display.

Back then when my grandfather was alive, I remember how much he loved collecting coins. He owned different peso coins and even U.S. coins. He really was a certified collector because he also did stamp collecting from other countries and put in an album. Now that he's gone, I would very much like to continue his hobby. I even wanted to inherit his collections but we couldn't seem to find where he put all of them. Well, I guess I'll have to start making my own collection then.

Three-In-One

Wow! got so many awards/tags that I dunno if I can keep up with them. I really had a busy week and I so thank God that it's weekend once again - time to bond with my family...and update my blog, too ;) Anyway, here are the tags that I received from my beautiful friends.

1. What Do You Love About Your Husband was from the Hot Momma, Umma and dear blogger friend, Phebieluv. Salamat for this tag.

I have known my husband for 14 years. We've been lovers for 7 years and 2 months and we've been married for 7 years, too.

Just like Umma, I also love the way that we don't keep secrets..I love the way that we both know that no matter what is said in the heat of an argument no one's going anywhere! I love that he wants to be with me forever. Communication is the ingredient to solve every problem ;)

He supports me in everything I do, like when I decided to became a SAHM and when I also decided to become a nurse. He cheers on me, too.

He's my number FAN!! lol...

Even though Chloe is very close to me, whenever I asked hubby (I demanded at times, hehe) to look after Chloe when I go somewhere, he really did his best to provide all her needs.

He is very loyal to me, hehe.

After an argument, I appreciated it when he tried to extend his apology to me, even though at times I knew it was my fault.

2. Birthday Wish Award was from Madz, Donabel and Kaye. I had my birthday recently but I am still going to make a wish list (to be applied next year, hehe).
I can't think of 15 wishes but my very wish for my next birthday is to have a good health for me and my family and that we will be guided and be safe in everything and everywhere that we go and do.

The rules are...
1. Make a list of what you want on your birthday...

2. The list should be 15 numbers

3. Post the image of this award in your posting

4. Give it to 10 friends of yours.

3. The Pink Heart Tag was from dear friends, Cecile and Rose. Thank you so much for remembering me ;)

Whatta Week!

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all those who dropped by and left comments on my site. Thanks also for your warm wishes on my birthday and on our wedding anniversary. Despite the fact that the weather was rather bad this week (it rained non-stop and parts of the town were flooded), it was really nice to hear from friends and your greetings were one of the best gifts I received that day. After I did my 8-hour duty at the hospital on Monday, I had a terrible migraine. When I arrived home, I took a shower and went straight to bed to rest. My mom bought me a cake (because Chloe was expecting a cake since she knew it was my birthday!) and my husband bought additional viands and we had a typical dinner at home. Actually, my husband and I decided to celebrate it on a weekend with both our families. But when Saturday came, due to some circumstances, we ended up having dinner in some restaurant with only the 3 of us ;)

A bouquet of flowers from hubby; A Birthday Cake from Chloe (courtesy of my mom ;p) & Chloe's greeting to her mom & dad

Chloe sang a Birthday Song to me! I love you very much, Chloe!

And here's the week-ender, the birth of my nephew, Clark Ken. It's my older brother Kenneth's 1st baby. I posted last December that my sister-in-law, Anna, was hospitalized but, thank God, she and the baby were safe. Last January 16, Anna gave birth via C/S since the amniotic fluid was already about 5cc. Anyway, what's important was they were both safe and the baby was perfectly healthy. Welcome to the world, baby Clark!

Triple, Fabulous and 6th Folder Awards

I got this triple award from my blogger friends, Madz an Bonnie. Thank you so much for including me on your list ;) I think somebody also tagged me on these awards but my apology, I can't seem to recall who was it. Another Award that I received early this month was from AnnaHayes, the 6th picture folder tag. Here's what I found on my 6th folder on the 6th picture - My 2nd older brother, Kenneth, holding my 1 year old Chloe. 7 Year Itch :)

January 12 is our 7th Wedding Anniversary... and it's myBirthday, too! But I'll be working my butt off at the hospital, hehehe. Actually, I don't have any reason to complain, but rather so many reasons to be thankful for these past seven years. It's a long and winding road but I thank the Lord for the many blessings that He bestowed upon me and Glenn in our years of wedded bliss. I thank God for giving us a beautiful and very smart daughter, Chloe. I thank God for providing us with our needs and for surrounding us with supportive families and wonderful friends. And I also thank Him for giving me another year to celebrate my Birthday. However, I don't think we'll be celebrating the occasion on the exact day since both my hubby and I will be quite busy. Instead, we're planning on celebrating it on the weekend together with our families, but that would depend on our schedules, I guess. Or maybe, the 3 of us can have a small dinner together ~ which would be just fine by me ;)

Anyways, I'm posting below some of our wedding pictures taken seven years ago, plus some honeymoon pics and those taken during our 1st year together. For those who don't know our story yet, you can click here (if you're curious that is ~ hehehe). Glenn and I had been dating exclusively for 7 years before we tied the knot, and 7 years after, here we are, still going strong and counting :)

    The Mommy Nurse

Ok, this is the moment! I'll finally be starting tomorrow! And this is the main reason why I'll be busy nowadays, hehehe…

I know some of you don’t it know yet but I’m a registered nurse. It’s actually my second course, my first being BS-Psychology which I finished some years ago. After graduating from college, with a degree in Psychology, I worked for sometime in an industrial firm under the Personnel Department. In just a few years, this company I worked for closed, but then I got married and soon had a child.

Chloe was 4 months old when I went back to school to study nursing, after some convincing from my mom and my aunt (who is a nurse in the US). Well, I got to finish the course, took the local nursing board and passed - whew! But right after that, I didn't go into practice... I focused most of my time taking care of Chloe and doing my wifely duties at home. Actually, I had so many plans but everything had to take a backseat. I guess I was too attached to my daughter that I couldn't let her out of my sight, hehehe…

But right now, I think I need to get back to my profession or else I'll totally forget... In fact, I'm think I forgot some of the procedures already..! As of the moment, I’m experiencing mixed-emotions…Like, I’m a bit apprehensive, excited, and scared... but, who wouldn’t be? My last nursing duty was when I was still a student almost 3 years ago. I’m just crossing my fingers that some of my colleagues there would be kind enough to help me.

So tomorrow I'll be starting my first day of duty at the Operating Room. This is a volunteer work by the way…it means I’m doing this for Free (yeah, call it labor of love). This is how the system works here (in this country). That’s why I can’t blame my other fellow nurses if they want to leave and choose to work abroad. But we need nurses here, too. I’ll be doing this for a few months so I hope you wish me luck and pray for me! Chloe will be under the care of my mom whenever I'm on duty (she’s very close to her grandma and I thank my mom for that). Oh, gosh! I miss my little girl already, huhuhu… Okay, gotta be strong and start to focus. And oh, I have to end here, 'coz I need to sleep early now. Gotta save lives tomorrow. Ta-ta!

    Back to Basics

The long holidays are over and I'll be busy again starting today. Chloe’s classes already resume and my husband, having fully recovered from his injury, returned to work, too.

The least thing I can do these days is post some entries in my blog and perhaps check some of my friends' blogs, too. Bloghopping might be hard to do (but it's still possible) so I guess I have to do it whenever I’m free. That’s why I tried to bloghop as much as I could last month because I knew this day would come, haha.

I don’t even know if I can still grab some opps but well, I can worry about that later. These days, I need to sleep early, hehe. I hope you still drop by my Corner and feel free to leave a message because I would LOVE to hear from you, too.

Well, this is all for now. Details will be posted next time because so many things popped into my mind at this moment. So, gotta go!

    A Mother's Prayer

I watched the movie, The Magic Sword (Quest for Camelot), a few years ago and at that time, I was still single. I remember I was so moved with one of the songs played. Actually, the mother in this story sang a song for her daughter, praying for her safety. Celine Dion was the singing voice of Lady Julianna and the song’s title was 'A Mother’s Prayer'. It was the first time I heard that song (Another version of the song, which is entitled 'The Prayer' and originally sung by Andrea Bocelli, is included in the movie's soundtrack ~ and later popularized by Josh Groban and Charlotte Church).

Recently, we watched the movie again, but this time, with Chloe. If I was moved with the song before, I was now deeply moved 3x more, and maybe because of the fact that now I already have a daughter. Well, as a mother, I’m always concern of my daughter’s safety especially when she’s at school or whenever I’m not around to check on her. But I’m thanking God for keeping her safe and watching over her, too.

Anyway, you can click and listen below the song that I got from lyrics.com and you can also sing along if you like ;). But it would be great for you to watch the movie, if you haven't yet. I can guarantee it, it really is an enjoyable film and it also comes with a great soundtrack. Singing voices include those of Andrea Corr of The Corrs, Celine Dion, and Steve Perry, among others. Pop versions of their songs are sung by LeAnn Rimes and Steve Perry.

My New Year's Resolution & You Make My Day

At the start of the year, we always love to make a long list of New Year's resolution. A New Year's resolution is a commitment that an individual makes to a project that is generally interpreted as advantageous. I don't know if I could keep up with the things I listed below but at least I will try to do it. Anyways, I got this tag from these 3 pretty ladies: Donabel, Maria, Demcy and Amy (and I guess there's more to come, hehe).

The rules: Once you’ve been tagged by someone, share your 12 top list New Year's Resolutions and then tag other people to post their own lists, too. Ok, here's my list:

    1. Practice self-confidence
    2. Be patient
    3. Be optimistic
    4. Sleep early at night
    5. Wake up early in the morning
    6. Control temper, hehe
    7. Always look at the bright side
    8. Be more understanding
    9. Face the challenge
    10. Learn to accept mistakes
    11. Read knowledgeable books, haha
    12. Don't procrastinate

And how would you feel if somebody would tell you that 'You Make My Day'? Cool, isn't it? Cecile included me in her tag and she sure made my day every time she visited my blog! Thank you, Ces, for being so thoughtful!
I am sharing these awards to Ane, Kringle, Dharlz, Bogie and all the people in my bloglist and other bloggers out there, too. Your visits always make my day!!!

    Gift, Laugh and Love

Days before Christmas, I posted here that my husband sprained his ankle badly. He took a leave from work and spent most of his time recovering at home. So on Christmas Day, he told me he would have to take a rain check on his Christmas gift for me. I didn't think much about it anymore because what was more important was his health. Well, lately he was able to walk without his crutches and since he was so bored at home, he wanted for us to go out, with me driving the car, of course. We went to a store and told me he would buy the thing that he promised me...
    That's a scanner, all right, hehe. It's a Canon LIDE-100.

I actually have so many memorable pictures that I wanted to post. The problem was, those pictures were taken before the digital era, hehe. Well, thanks, hubby, for this wonderful gift and I do promise to take good care of it ;)

Well, this is also an opportunity for me to scan and post the Laughing Stock of the Day meme that Niko and Kikamz tagged me before. Since I went to my mom's place, I took one of my old pics. I don't know if this is considered a Fun picture... I think it's more of a weird picture because my daughter did not recognize me on it. This was taken in Butuan City and I guess I was still 12 years at the time it was taken. :)
And oh, speaking of meme, I am posting Spread The Love Award, too.

This is from Cecile of Small and Simple things. Sorry, it took me a long time to post this, hehe. In fact, I digged it up from her old post, looking from one blog to another until I finally found it, hehehe. Well, I am Spreading The Love Award to all of you! You can grab and spread it to others, too..Wishing you all a Happy New Year!

    Hello 2009!

I would like to greet each and everyone a prosperous and a wonderful New Year! Time flies so fast but we have to move forward and face another year with a beautiful beginning.

2008 was a fruitful and meaningful year for me. A lot of things happened, a lot of struggles and challenges I was able to face, a lot of joys and happiness were experienced and a lot of wonderful friends were met and cherished, especially in blogging :)

These bittersweet memories of yesterday will always remain in my heart!

    Happy 2009!!!
