Designer Scrub Suit

Are you a nurse or are you working in a medical-related field? Are you required to wear a uniform or a scrub suit? If so, you might like to check this site http://www.blueskyscrubs.com/ to see for designs that you think is perfect for you to wear.

When reporting for duty or work, it is necessary that we wear something comfortable. Imagine entertaining a client and you cannot concentrate because the cloth you are wearing is too tight or too loose, or too itchy or very dull to look at. Remember, it's best to be presentable when dealing a patient.

If you want to buy hospital scrubs, you can visit the site I mentioned for they have a lot to offer. You can select which clothe suits you best! So, check it out now!

Scrub...Scrub

I remember I made a promise to Niko that I'm going to post a pic of myself doing some stuff at the hospital, in action. Well, here it is...dunno if you'll recognize me :)

    Life At the O.R.

I had a long holiday last week because we (trainees) were given a holiday off by our OR Head Nurse and Supervisor. And so Monday came and I went on duty. To be honest, I'm kind of tired already, hehe. I like the experience but extending it for another 3 months is not on my plan. For one, I don't receive any incentives, therefore, no motivation :D But anyways, I've gain knowledge thru this experience and with that, I am thankful. Another reason is that I am planning to go on with my nclex review and third, I plan to go out of the country again but I still don't know when.

Going back to my OR training, there were times when I really enjoyed working in there but there were days that I was also stressed out. Sometimes, I just don't get the surgeons blaming the nurses why we gave them instruments that were not good. But why blame us? We only serve and wash the instruments. It's them who were using it frequently. But I also knew that some of these instruments need to be replaced, too. I just hope they would communicate to us fairly. Aren't we a team? And there were some staff, too, who would let us carry all the burden even we're not that experienced with the job. They expected too much, but of course, I want to give my best, too. Actually, it also depends of what kind of a person he/she is. Some were really helpful, and some, I don't know...

But as I've said before, I am up for the challenge. So, it's either I take it or leave it. But I was glad to find out that I survived the past 3 months. I was supposed to end my 3-month training with them last week but need to extend for another 2 weeks because of my absences. Oh well, I'll just make the most out of it.

    TGIF!!!

I haven't been blogging lately even though I wanted so much to post an entry here. I actually visited my friends' blogs and tried to post a comment or left a message in their cbox, however, I can't do it to all of them. My eyes can't seem to stay longer in the computer now. I also suffered back pains last week and the entire weekend were spent mostly staying and relaxing at home or lying down on the bed. Even sleeping is a luxury for me these days. I slept early yet I need to wake up as early as 5 am to get prepared and to cook food, too. So, bear with me, I know I owe some of you with my visits and I haven't even posted the tags I promised to post last weekend...sorry for breaking it :(

I'm still in the transition period right now and tried adjusting with my schedule especially that I don't have a house help at home. That's why I thank God that my mom's around to take care of Chloe. Well, I guess I need to make a little sacrifice with my time in order for me to fulfill my endeavors in life. I must have guts to do it or I might regret it later to have wasted my profession. Anyway, things may be tiresome for me these days but I've learned a lot, too. It's no joke to be an OR nurse but it's also fulfilling.

My assigned area for this week is not so 'toxic' compared the other week. But one thing is for sure, we Never ran out of patients. What a busy hospital! My training period will only last for 3 months and after that, it's only up to me whether I want to extend it for another 3 months or just stop. As of now, I chose the latter because I have another plan after that. But I know it's also possible that I'll choose the former. Oh well, I'd better think of the current situation...

Oh, anyways, I really wanted to say this today - Thank God it's Friday!!!

    Scrub

Hello my dear beloved blogger friends! Sorry, I wasn't able to drop by your sites lately. I've been trying to visit some blogs and hope to leave a comment but my eyes was too tired to do it. My back was also aching that I can't stand sitting on a chair for a long time. Besides, I got easily tired and went off to bed early. Whoa!!! - you might think that my work was getting me off to nowhere, hehehe. My O.R. duty was getting more exciting, challenging but yeah, tiresome and one has to be very alert!

I started assisting the surgeons last Monday. As I've mentioned in my previous post, I got a feeling that I'll be more of a Scrub nurse this week, so, this is the week! I'm not that fast yet like the senior staff nurses but well, so far, so good. I wanted so much to share with you, guys, what I've seen in there but of course, I have to protect the privacy of the patient. But what I can only tell you this time is that it's only in that hospital where I saw the rarest and weirdest kinds of illnesses, hehe. Maybe I will just share a glimpse of my experiences at the OR whenever I am free. Ta-ta!

    My O.R. Week

I'm having a little free time nowadays to post an entry here but I'll try my best to put on some updates. I know I'll get used to this kind of routine soon, and even waking up as early as 5 o'clock in the morning! I started having my duty the other week and at that time, we were oriented to the place, the set-up, the staff and everything. And then I was informed that I'll be assigned at the Operating Room. Actually, I was a bit skeptical to be an OR nurse because there are so many instruments that I am not familiarized with and I've heard that some doctors are hot-tempered. But I knew that OR is one of the cream of the crop in a hospital and it will be a big challenge for me to join their team, so, I stated in my application that I wanted to be assigned at the OR - and there I was!

My second week at the OR was more on observing how the senior nurses did their part. I got to helped them do the nurses notes. Despite the heavy rain and bad weather, we had to be there (although some were absent because their houses were flooded) to take care of the patients. Thank God, I survived that week.

And then came my third week. They usually rotated us to different areas and I was assigned to the ER-OR area. Cases that were catered in there were minor operations. But on the very first day, I was totally stressed out. My time was extended for another 2 hours and I arrived home so drained and tired. As early as 7:30 p.m., I was already off to bed. The following day, it was the exact opposite and I was tired, too, for nothing much to do, hehe. But as I've said before, I've no reasons to complain but to thank only that we were there trying to save and extend services to the sick people at the hospital. But I did not scrub yet as of this week (assisting doctor during operation). I was more of a circulating nurse but I'm pretty sure that by next week, I'll be more of a scrub nurse. And oh, some doctors I've encountered lately were nice, by the way.

Hope to post more interesting stories next time ;)

    The Mommy Nurse

Ok, this is the moment! I'll finally be starting tomorrow! And this is the main reason why I'll be busy nowadays, hehehe…

I know some of you don’t it know yet but I’m a registered nurse. It’s actually my second course, my first being BS-Psychology which I finished some years ago. After graduating from college, with a degree in Psychology, I worked for sometime in an industrial firm under the Personnel Department. In just a few years, this company I worked for closed, but then I got married and soon had a child.

Chloe was 4 months old when I went back to school to study nursing, after some convincing from my mom and my aunt (who is a nurse in the US). Well, I got to finish the course, took the local nursing board and passed - whew! But right after that, I didn't go into practice... I focused most of my time taking care of Chloe and doing my wifely duties at home. Actually, I had so many plans but everything had to take a backseat. I guess I was too attached to my daughter that I couldn't let her out of my sight, hehehe…

But right now, I think I need to get back to my profession or else I'll totally forget... In fact, I'm think I forgot some of the procedures already..! As of the moment, I’m experiencing mixed-emotions…Like, I’m a bit apprehensive, excited, and scared... but, who wouldn’t be? My last nursing duty was when I was still a student almost 3 years ago. I’m just crossing my fingers that some of my colleagues there would be kind enough to help me.

So tomorrow I'll be starting my first day of duty at the Operating Room. This is a volunteer work by the way…it means I’m doing this for Free (yeah, call it labor of love). This is how the system works here (in this country). That’s why I can’t blame my other fellow nurses if they want to leave and choose to work abroad. But we need nurses here, too. I’ll be doing this for a few months so I hope you wish me luck and pray for me! Chloe will be under the care of my mom whenever I'm on duty (she’s very close to her grandma and I thank my mom for that). Oh, gosh! I miss my little girl already, huhuhu… Okay, gotta be strong and start to focus. And oh, I have to end here, 'coz I need to sleep early now. Gotta save lives tomorrow. Ta-ta!
