The Best DIY Projects for Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day doesn't have to cost a lot of money. For that matter, neither does updating your home or giving a gift for any occasion. All you need to do is head to your local art supply store Long Beach CA. Don't worry if you don't have an idea, there is plenty of inspiration to be found among the art supplies.

Floral Wreath

Nothing says love like red roses, but you don't have to break the bank on dried or artificial flowers. Simply take some ribbon, a hot glue gun, red or pink tissue paper and a heart-shaped wreath form and make your own. Even kids can get into the spirit and contribute to the bouquet.

Original Art

It doesn't take any experience or even expensive paints or supplies to create a one-of-a-kind piece of art. Just take what you have on hand or what you can easily find and create a masterpiece like this lipstick heart.

A Jar of Love Notes

This project is a precious idea for the very young to the ageless. Use your imagination on this one. You can pick any jar and leave it plain or decorate it. Paint the top or put a fabric cover on it to add some color. Then write all the ways you love your valentine and place each note folded into the jar.

A Tree Covered in Hearts

Another craft that is beautiful and simple for any age; all you need is some colored paper, string, scissors, a branch from your yard and a vase or pitcher. You can paint the branch white if desired so that the hearts really stand out. Cut out the heart shapes from red, pink and white construction paper and hang them from the branch.
Regardless of your age, your level of expertise or your budget, nothing says, "I love you" more than a gift made and given from the heart. Sometimes the simplest ideas are the best.

Valentine Wish

Valentine's Day is fast approaching and I have not really thought of buying myself any present. However, I saw these very cute stackable expressions from joyjewelers.com and I am so dying to  own one ring for myself and also for my two daughters. They are just so irresistible and I wish to get that Garnet stackable expression ring for me because it's my birthstone, but, I am also okay with the other designs. As for my daughters, I guess any design will do because they are that appreciative. I guess I will just have to inform my husband that these are the kinds of presents that we want to receive, hehe. But since Valentine's day is just 2 days away, delayed gifts are still welcomed by us. Anyway, for us, everyday is Valentine's Day.

Valentine Food

We didn't go out last Valentine's day but just ordered food from the restaurant. The weather was not that good so we decided to stay home. We don't want to go thru all the hassles especially that we have 2 kids ages 8 and 1 so home was the best place for us to celebrate. Sharing to you the food that we ordered:

Pancit

And hubby gave me and our 2 girls bouquet of flowers

Yummy Sunday: Valentine Cake

Happy Valentine's Day Everyone! I should've posted my entry earlier but was busy doing other things... plus - I overslept this afternoon! hehehe...

Anyway, we took our lunch at Roadhouse, SM and did the grocery afterwards. My husband also bought a cake from Bigby's to serve as our dessert --- at home :D We arrived home past 4pm and I was really tired and drowsy. My daughter and I took an afternoon nap but we woke up instead around 6:45pm! My husband decided to cook dinner for us (I requested, hehe) and ate dinner kinda late.

So my Yummy Sunday entry for this day is about the Valentine's Cake from Bigby's. I husband said it's his gift for me and for our daughter, Chloe. And please join Perfectly Blended every Sunday and share to us your yummy foods!

Inside the box...

Bittersweet Valentines

I went to see a Doctor yesterday amidst the bad weather and with a high fever. I was hoping that the doctor's diagnosis would turn out differently but subconsciously, I was very aware that 99%, I got mumps. I read the symptoms and they all fit on it. I looked like an alien already as my jawbone swell and sore a lot. And so alas, the doctor confirmed that it was indeed mumps (!) and sad to say, I was told to rest for a week - and it means to say that my duty will be extended, too. Sigh.... I hope I won't get sick again during my entire rotation at the hospital.

With all that has happened to me, I cannot celebrate Valentines day with my husband and daughter. As I've said in my previous post, I sent my daughter to her grandma's place and now I am terribly missing her. I posted a blog at My Girl about how I felt on not seeing her.

Yesterday, I really had chills and my husband put on so many blankets over me. I guess there were 5 including my woolen blanket. And since it was not enough, he wrapped himself around me to keep me warm. He took a leave of absence from work to take care of me so he was the one who prepared my meals and all my other needs. I suffered Parotitis, too, that I had a hard time chewing on my food so my husband decided to spoon-fed me. Sweet, huh? But what a sad way to celebrate our Valentine.

But I do appreciate his gestures. I suddenly remember our vows more than 7 years ago, that "in sickness and in health, for better or for worse..." It's very meaningful to me now more than ever. It is indeed a Bittersweet Valentines Day for me today. But despite all that happened, and despite all our nonsense bickering, I felt love and protected. I thank Glenn for everything.

Addendum:

My husband left me for awhile because he decided to buy a viand. He got back around 12:45 pm and he bought me malasugue soup because it's easy for me to chew and it was all that I wanted, too. And he also brought me a bouquet of flowers. It fills me up, huh? I was having a fever already but I suddenly forgot it for awhile, hehe. Thank you Glenn for sticking with me thru thick and thin. Happy Valentines Day!
