Chloe is Well

I've shared in my previous blog that Chloe is sick. She had high fever midnight of March 20 and she had cough and colds, too. When her fever didn't subside, she was hospitalized on Wednesday (March 25th) afternoon because her platelet count was already near the borderline level and she was nose-bleeding from time to time. We were afraid that it might be Dengue Fever, but then the doctor ruled that one out on Thursday when her platelet count increased. However her WBC was still down, so was her neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes and basophils. Anyways, a possible diagnosis might be Typhoid Fever but just the same, it was ruled out later because her fever did not recur anymore. But whatever it was, I thought it was best to have her admitted just to be safe.

By Friday afternoon, Chloe was cleared for discharge from the hospital. Thank God for that! We still continued her medication and I am just too happy to see her alert and enthusiastic again. I'd rather that she was restless and noisy at home all the time than to see her so weak and lying down on the bed most of the time. I'm thankful also for my family and for all those people who included Chloe in their prayers. I thank God, too, because we only paid a very minimal amount in hospital bills. Insurance and Philhealth really helped a lot :) But more than that, I thank God that we're home after only 2 days of confinement at the hospital...Indeed, there is no place like home!

Flightless Bird, American Mouth

Lately, I've been addicted listening to this song from Iron and Wine. The title is Flightless Bird, American Mouth. It's actually one of the soundtracks from Twilight movie. I'm sharing here with you the music and the lyrics. Enjoy listening!

Chloe is Sick!

My daughter, Chloe, was admitted to the hospital yesterday. It was her very first time…and I was not happy about it. Every time she got sick, I’ve always tried to do all means to provide necessary medications for her so that she would get well. I also referred her to her pediatrician to make sure she gets the right meds and right dosage. I was glad that her doctor is not the type who would suggest hospitalizing my daughter right away, too. However, her doctor is currently out of the country and then Chloe got sick. It would have been ok but when I had her cbc checked as of yesterday, her platelet count was already at the borderline. So, I was left with no choice but to admit her rather than wait for the worst to come. Besides, she had experienced nosebleed twice already and I also referred her to another doctor.

My husband was out of town since Sunday and was scheduled to go home yesterday (Wednesday) evening. Even though we contacted frequently at the phone, the major decision lies merely to me. And it wasn’t easy to be by myself andI've been absent from hospital duty since Monday, too. When I brought Chloe to the hospital yesterday morning to have her cbc taken, my daughter was quite scared that she cried until blood came out from her nose and the more she was scared at the sight of her own blood! So, after that, I carried Chloe – already heavy at 5 years old – all by my strength (all the way from ground floor to 1st floor) to the Emergency Room to have her assessed. We went home after that but in the afternoon, came back to have her admitted at the hospital. I may be in line with the medical profession but I have to admit I don’t like any of my family to be admitted at the hospital. For one, you can encounter other patients with some kind of illnesses and I don’t find the place totally clean, too. That’s only my opinion. But what is good about the place is that the patient is well-monitored.

My husband arrived last night and he went directly to the hospital. Chloe’s cbc is taken every 12 hours. She was crying out loud last night but this early morning, she readily offered her finger to be pricked and went back to sleep after that. I wish this would be over soon so that we can all go home already. Please include her in your prayers, too, and thank you for doing so.

Happy 2nd Anniversary!

Today is 2nd the wedding anniversary of my older brother, Tonypet, and sister-in-law, Bogie. I would like to congratulate both of them on this very special day! Their relationship lasted for almost 1o years before they decided to tie a knot. Theirs may be a long journey but it was indeed a fruitful relationship guided with love and blessings from family and friends.

Anniversary Wishes
May the good Lord see and bless you,
On your anniversary day.
May He always be your companion,
And guide you on your way.
May your bonds of matrimony strengthen,
Holding strong amidst any fears.
And may our friendship stay untarnished,
Through the wearing of the years.

    I Lack Sleep!

I'm a light-sleeper, but actually, my sleeping pattern is not really that good. When I started having my hospital duty last January, I was able to sleep earlier after a very tiresome day. However, lately, I've been having some sleep deprivation. I easily woke up in the wee hour of the morning and I can't go back to sleep anymore.

And just this week, my husband got sick that I kept on checking on him at night (not to mention that I need to be up at 4:30 a.m. to ready myself before going to the hospital). The following night, I wasn't able to sleep early because I was busy preparing my daughter's things needed for their Recognition Day on Thursday. Anyways, my husband slowly recuperated and my daughter's activity ended so all the while I thought I could finally go to sleep early. Then, I got a terrible headache due to cold. I slept early but my sleep was very erratic. But despite that, I still went and reported to the hospital and even scrubbed for 5 hours.

And last night, I was too eager to go to sleep early even though it was a Friday. I was so tired that my eyes can't take it anymore and so I dozed off around 9:30 p.m. But at 12 midnight, I woke up and found Chloe having some chills. Oh my, I just realized that my little girl got sick and I ended up having no sleep at all until this morning. I was even tempted to go blogging at dawn but my eyes were tired and weary so I decided to just lie down beside Chloe, checking her temperature to subside and waited for the time to give her next medication. Now, I'm contemplating... I don't care if I'm deprived of sleep anymore. What I care is to have my family's health back on track - and that is the most important thing to me now.

    Updates

I wasn't able to blog lately about my activities at the hospital. Well, since I started my training last January, I woke up as early as 4:30 a.m. But lately, I've been extending it to 5 am already, hehe. Every week, we are being rotated to different areas at the OR. I was assigned already to OB-OR where all the operations were gyne-related problems. I was also assigned before to Optha area where patients undergo eye surgery. At Ortho area, you can encounter patients suffering bone fractures and at the Main OR, you can find all kinds of surgery which I am currently assigned. Some surgeons I've encountered were nice but there a few who were short-tempered. I hope to share with you my experiences at the OR next time. I need to take a nap now coz I'm drowsy .

    My Bag and Friends

    What's Inside My Purse/Bag?

I was asked by Maria, Demcy & Amy what's inside the bag that I am currently using. It took me sometime to think about it because I use different bags on different occasions (or depending on my mood), although I have a favorite bag, but recently, I've been changing it from one bag to another.

I love my Nine West bag that was given to me by an aunt in LA. My Xoxo bag was a gift from my aunt in Chicago. I love it coz it's small and handy and I use it whenever I feel girly. I used this when we went malling but I use my red bag last Sunday when we went to the church to match my red shoes. I love red, you know.

My pink Supergirl bag is used when I went to hospital duty. This bag is made of cloth and it's very light but I can put a lot of stuff inside including my scrub suit and other materials needed at work.

So, you see, I don't have a permanent bag. I use it when I feel like it. But whatever bag I'm using, you can always find my N70 cellphone or my Nokia 2630 cellphone, my sergio rossi wallet, my lipstick, pressed powder and my house key.

    Chloe at Disney Princess Magazine

I received an email today from one of summit media's magazines, Disney's Princess, informing me that Chloe's picture is featured on their March-April 2009 issue. So, I hurriedly went to the nearby store and look for their magazine. Alas! I found it and bought 4 issues, hehehe. Of course, I'm going to give the other copies to Chloe's grandparents :)

You can see the picture of Chloe below. She's wearing a mermaid costume and wearing a very big smile (just click the picture to enlarge). I hope you can buy their magazines, too. It's very entertaining and kids will really love it!

    My Addictions

Pretty blogger friend, Niko ganda wanted to know my top 5 Addictions. So here it is ;)

    1. Family - They are my top priority because they are my life. I love them very much that I would rather spend most of my time with them.

    2. Internet - Even though how tired I was from hospital duty, I tried to take a peek on the net to check my emails, check my blog, check my friendster and facebook account and check on the latest news or buzz to update myself ;)

    3. Music - I love music. Any kind of genre will do for me especially if the tune is catchy.

    4. Books - I love to read interesting books. I could even finish reading it in 1 day no matter how thick it is so long as it interests me.

    5. Malling - I need to go out somewhere at least once a week, with my family of course. Malling is the easiest way to go :D

Now, it's your turn to list your 5 addictions.
